About the position

Do you know a lot about online media and Amsterdam? Do you have lots of ideas, are you creative and ready for a challenge? Then you might be the Senior Editor (English) we are looking for.

You are:

  • Responsible: You bear responsibility for implementing the (content) strategy of iamsterdam.com/en, in the form of articles, themed pages, and other types of content;
  • Accurate: You ensure that the content plan is always up-to-date and that deadlines are met;
  • Flexible: You work flexibly, are sociable and perceptive;
  • Leadership: You manage the editorial team and guide them in the (learning) process of creating content. Additionally, you coordinate collaboration between online and print, social media, and Dutch-language channels.

About you

  • A relevant higher professional or university education, for example in journalism, media or communication;
  • Approximately 3 years of experience in creating online content, leading a team and developing creative concepts;
  • Excellent command of both the English and Dutch languages, in speaking and writing;   
  • You are passionate about Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area and possess strong communication skills. You enjoy devising new concepts for online formats, video series and branded content;
  • You have good insight into the needs and interests of an international (visiting) audience.

About the employment conditions

Based on a 38-hour working week, as a Senior Editor you can expect, among other things:

  • A salary between € 3,100 and € 3,500 (scale 14)
  • You start with a one-year contract
  • A role for 38 hours per week with the flexibility to largely schedule this yourself
  • The opportunity to work partly (up to 50%) from home after the onboarding period
  • 26 vacation days with a full-time contract
  • Pension: A defined contribution scheme with Be Frank, including disability insurance
  • An allowance for your gym membership or other well-being investments
  • A travel allowance based on public transport rates for journeys from 10 to 60 kilometres
  • € 900 personal budget for your training courses plus access to 150 online training courses

  • Laptop and phone with a business subscription

You have a lot of freedom to organise your own work and working hours. For example, you can swap public holidays with us and work from home.

We look forward to seeing you at our office on the NDSM wharf, just a 10-minute walk from the ferry! We always enjoy gathering on Development Thursday. On this last Thursday of the month, development is the central theme. For you as a person, our team, and/or the organisation. What do we usually do then? Think of a knowledge session or a workshop on sustainability.
