Griffioen
Griffioen is the cultural center of the Free University in Amsterdam. Together with film theatre Rialto and VU Art & Science Gallery, they bring a wide cultural offer to all residents of Amsterdam South. Whether you study at the VU, live or work in the Zuidas, Griffioen offers a wide range of cultural options.
Cultural Center
At Griffioen, there is a versatile theatre program on the agenda, from cabaret to drama, music and dance, from big names to new talents. You can also go here for courses. Visual artists exhibit monthly in the foyer.
In November, the theatre will open the Grote Zaal in the New University Building. In addition to the theatre hall, a cinema, we also run a culture café together with Rialto, complete with bar, stage and terrace. At the end of the year in December, Griffioen opens the doors of the Kleine Zaal.
