Knowledge and stories from Zuidoost

The idea for the encyclopedia arose during the 50th anniversary of Bijlmer in 2018. Many residents and stakeholders saw that something special was happening: the so-called Bijlmer Renaissance. The foundation was laid for the encyclopedia to preserve and further develop this knowledge and stories.

Online map

The encyclopedia works like a kind of open online map. You can click on places and read stories, facts, photos and ideas about the Bijlmer. Residents and experts write these stories. This creates a more complete picture of Amsterdam Zuidoost, in which local knowledge is central. The encyclopedia shows how the district used to be, how it is now, and what ideas there are for the future. Everyone can use the information for research, plans and collaboration.

Fair and connected city

During the ToekomstTendaagse, the makers will share how this project came about. They will also show how the Mapping Imaginaries method works. This approach helps to collect ideas for a just and connected city. The encyclopedia is being developed with the support of De Kazerne Reigersbos, the Amsterdam-Zuidoost district and the Masterplan Zuidoost. The first prototype will be ready for use at the end of 2025.
