Data sprint: help with Amsterdam's digital time machine

Amsterdam Time Machine

More than 100 Amsterdammers have told us about their favourite place in the city in recent years. Stories from people who were born here, and from people who moved here. The University of Amsterdam collected these stories and is now turning them into something special: the Amsterdam Time Machine. A digital time machine that allows you to walk around in the Amsterdam of the past. You can see what neighbourhoods, streets and buildings looked like and how people lived. They do this with old maps, archives and modern techniques such as 3D images and smart data sources.

Contribute to the past of the future

During the ToekomstTiendaagse (Future Fest), the university organizes a workshop. You will receive an explanation about the Amsterdam Time Machine and then get to work yourself. You will link stories of Amsterdammers to old maps, museum pieces and archive material. In this way, you help to keep the past alive for the future.
