From 21 to 29 June, Lex Pouw will exhibit his paintings of Amsterdam and its inhabitants in Oosterkerk. Ordinary places and ordinary people become special and remarkable when we pause to look closely. These paintings encourage us to reflect on the everyday.

Beautiful moments
After his retirement, Lex Pouw started painting. For years he was closely involved in the well-being of the city, first at the Municipal Housing Company Amsterdam and then as chairman of the board of Ymere housing.
To really show people what surrounds them daily, to enlarge it, zoom in on it and express it with paint in color: that is Lex's skill. In his paintings of the many faces of Amsterdam, light and backlight, shadow and reflection play a major role. They are atmospheres of a single moment that he tries to capture in a painting.
