A celebration of jazz in Amsterdam's Red Light District

The Red Light Jazz Festival is an annual event celebrating Amsterdam's position as a true jazz city. The festival aims to flaunt a more cultured side of the city's infamous Red Light district, highlighting its long and strong connection with jazz. Amsterdam's most notorious neighbourhood is the perfect location to feast on an exemplary line-up of big-name jazz musicians as well as up-and-coming new talent.

The musical genre made its way to Amsterdam in the 1930s and 40s and hasn’t really left. Back then Café Casablanca on the Zeedijk gained a reputation as a ‘Mecca for jazz lovers’. This vibrant three-day festival has grown over the years with performances taking place in more and more venues each outing

See Amsterdam's most notorious neighbourhood in a new light at this festival, which will take place across various venues in the city's Red Light District. Expect a cool lineup of jazz musicians throughout the weekend, showcasing the area's rich tradition of jazz, which spans back to the '30s.

Visit the Red Light Jazz website for more details, and be sure to check out Amsterdam's other upcoming music festivals.

Attention: The 7th edition of the Red Light Jazz festival will not take place in the first weekend of June but during  the last weekend of May,  29, 30 and 31 2020 (Whitsun weekend)
