For specific matters, such as registering a new company or updating a company’s legal status, you can visit the Chamber of Commerce in Amsterdam. For registering a new company, you need to first fill in a form (in Dutch) and then arrange an appointment in advance by using the online appointment tool (in Dutch). Please note that you cannot make an appointment before you’ve filled in the form, and that it’s not possible to book an appointment in person or by telephone.
To register, you will need:
- a valid form of identification. Note: if you are not a Dutch or EU citizen, you may also be required to present a valid residence and/or work permit
- a copy of a recent bank statement (not older than 30 days)
- proof of your home address
- a rental contract (or official letter of intent) if using hired premises for your business
Once you are registered, you will be given proof of registration and a unique company registration number, which you must use for your outgoing post and invoices. If your details change, you must inform the Chamber of Commerce immediately using the online form (in Dutch). In addition to registering a company, the Chamber of Commerce offers advice and information about being self-employed or running a business. It also offers plenty of brochures and can help formulate a business plan.
