Ludwig + Boys Won’t Be Boys - A celebration of queerness in classical music
In the run-up to Pride 2025, the fearless music collective Ludwig and the theatre movement Boys Won't Be Boys shed new light on the classical repertoire. In a unique programme about masculinity, sexuality and identity, they reveal a queer history hidden in well-known classical compositions. A cheerful combination of classical music, cabaret, dance and spoken word with personal, moving and recognisable stories of composers and the people on stage, in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Fresh look
Boys Won't Be Boys has been breaking through gender norms since 2018. With personal stories, they shake up rigid ideas and create space for different perspectives and mutual connection. Together with Ludwig, they push musical boundaries and break through traditional norms with music by Schubert, Nico Muhly, Billie Strayhorn, Harry Bannink and many more; a connecting program that touches, surprises and casts a fresh look at classical works.
