Commemoration Keti Koti (lunch + concert) with Arturo den Hartog + Ernst Munneke
On July 1, the Netherlands commemorates and celebrates the abolition of slavery in Suriname and the Antilles (Keti Koti and Dia di Abolishon). This afternoon we reflect on our shared past and present and look ahead to the future by eating and listening together. Countertenor Arturo den Hartog will perform a recital with songs from the Surinamese classical repertoire, Surinamese traditional songs and Adès' colorful arrangement of 4 songs by Purcell. Beforehand, there will be a lunch with Heri Heri, a one-pot meal prepared with ingredients that the enslaved people on the plantations had at their disposal.

Free Heri Heri meal and subsequent song recital
Arturo den Hartog won the audience award at the Princess Christina Competition in 2021 and was seen at the O. Festival in 2022, 2023 and 2024, among other things. He is also increasingly developing as a creator, in which he is a champion of the work of black composers. Pianist Ernst Munneke has been part of the musical staff of the Dutch National Opera since 2009 and is also active as a song accompanist and chamber musician at home and abroad.
The Heri Heri meal consists of boiled sweet potato, cassava, yellow and green banana, salted fish (bakkeljauw), an egg and garnish (a vegetarian version is available).
