Kaori Kurihara - Céramique Botanique
Elegant petals, scalloped fans and seed-like textures cover the whimsical ceramic sculptures of Kaori Kurihara (Osaka, 1987). Her art objects throw you off track, because the ceramic works inspired by fruits, plant shapes and marine life look deceptively real. From 21 March 2025 her work can be seen in the Purmerends Museum.

About Kaori Kurihara
Kaori Kurihara, born in Japan and based in Paris, draws her inspiration from the endless variety of forms in nature. Her works are reminiscent of exotic fruits and graceful flowers - lifelike and yet unreal. In Kaori's magical world, nature and imagination merge into fascinating ceramic sculptures. Her technique is Japanese: very delicate.
She has exhibited in the Grand Palais in Paris, and in Brussels, London, Strasbourg, Sèvres and Switzerland. Due to the time-consuming nature of her work, her production is low. Important collectors have also discovered her work. This exhibition in the Purmerends Museum marks her first solo museum exhibition worldwide.
