Under the name LUWTEN, Dutch artist Tessa Douwstra creates refined pop music that appeals to both the head and the heart. Her music highlights the introverted and finds solace in loneliness and individuality. LUWTEN intertwines field recordings and organic sounds with electronic sounds and melodic instrumentation, with both the productions and her sympathetic vocals telling a story. Her latest album, Draft (2021), was acclaimed by the press and the public and earned her a 3voor12 Award for best album.
Kika Sprangers
With her velvety sound, sparkling tonal language and captivating compositions, saxophonist Kika Sprangers knows how to conquer many hearts. Her playing combines vulnerability and strength with complete surrender, resulting in jazz poetry that forces you to surrender to your imagination. The debut albums Human Traits (2019) and Mind's Eye (2022) show her artistic search for what makes us human, and both were praised. She was named one of the greatest new talents in pop music by the NRC and won the Rogier van Otterloo award. With her own quintet and Large Ensemble, she creates dynamically rich music that was heard at the North Sea Jazz Festival and Into the Great Wide Open.
Musicians of the Concertgebouw Orchestra
The third musical component of the evening will be an ensemble of musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Together, they will interpret the orchestra's classical sounds. The musicians who will play will be announced later.
