Couleur Vocale: Cappella Sacelli
Cappella Sacelli brings music from 16th-century Amsterdam back to life. The four soloists of the male ensemble sing from a unique piece of historical heritage: the beautiful manuscript, the Occo Codex, a treasure trove of polyphony. And a gift from the merchant and patron, Pompeius Occo, especially for the Heilige Stede. The chapel that once stood between Rokin and Kalverstraat was the centre of Amsterdam's then-so-famous pilgrimage place. Just as once between the vaults, the serene and crystal clear music of Josquin des Prez, Jean Mouton, Pierre de la Rue, and other masters now sounds again. Now sung by Andrew Hallock (countertenor), Dierick Aartsen (tenor), Jeroen Spitteler (baritone) and Jonty Coy (bass).

Holy City
Cappella Sacelli, founded in 2021, is a professional male quartet specialising in early music, particularly singing from historical manuscripts and original mensural notation. The ensemble's name is inspired by the "Heilige Stede," the chapel that was the center of devotion to the Miracle of Amsterdam for centuries. The Occo Codex refers to this location as Sacellum ("the little chapel"). Led by Jeroen Spitteler and initiated by Stichting Hermes, the ensemble's concerts celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Occo Hofje—more information at www.ensemblehermes.nl.
