About Ella van Poucke

Since her debut at the Concertgebouw at the age of ten, Ella has given concerts in leading concert halls at home and abroad and has won numerous awards. She has performed with many major orchestras in Europe as a soloist and gave the premiere of the cello concerto by the Finnish composer Uljas Pulkkis, written for her, at the Cello Biennale. She also has a rich track record as a chamber musician. She also gives frequent recitals, including with her brother, pianist Nicolas van Poucke. Ella plays a Maggini cello from 1620 that an anonymous benefactor made available to her.

Bach's cello suites

Bach's Cello Suites were still relatively unknown before 1900. The famous cellist Pablo Casals was among the first to study and record the pieces. Other famous cellists soon followed. Johann Sebastian Bach's six Cello Suites are now among the most iconic masterpieces ever. And to think that these masterpieces only became known to the general public in the last century. Ella van Poucke plays all six suites in this concert with two breaks.
