Hotel Okura Amsterdam offers an exclusive Sake Workshop, led by Sake Master Sommelier Akos Turi, where participants discover the rich history and refined flavours of premium sake every Saturday.
Hotel Okura Amsterdam is introducing the Sake Workshop, an exclusive experience where participants can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of sake. Led by Sake Master Sommelier Akos Turi, one of only two Sake Masters in the Netherlands, guests will discover the subtle nuances and rich history of Japanese rice wine. The workshop takes place every Saturday and offers a guided exploration of an extensive flavour palette through an exclusive selection of premium sake labels, available only at Okura.
During the workshop, the sake is paired with the sweet and bitter notes of chocolate and the salty, rounded flavours of carefully selected fine cheeses. Participants will experience how these flavours enhance one another. Every detail of the workshop reflects the essence of omotenashi, heartfelt Japanese hospitality, ensuring a complete and immersive experience.
The workshop is led by Akos Turi, who has earned the prestigious Master Sake Sommelier Award. He shares his passion: “Sake is an incredibly versatile beverage. Every year, I travel to Japan to deepen my knowledge, visit breweries, and uncover the stories behind sake. I am eager to share my passion for this remarkable craft, which has been recognised as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.”
