Museum Amsterdam Noord

Museum Amsterdam Noord is located in the former Municipal Bathhouse of Vogeldorp and gives visitors a good idea of the thousand-year history of what is now known as Amsterdam Noord.

Special history

Museum Amsterdam Noord is located in the former bathhouse of Vogeldorp. One of the first garden villages in Amsterdam North and was built in 1919. After the First World War there was a great housing shortage and it was decided to build the emergency villages Disteldorp and Vogeldorp and the Van der Pekbuurt. At that time, (workers') houses could not yet be provided with sanitary facilities. Twenty-one bathhouses were erected throughout the city. The Badhuis Vogeldorp was one of them. In 1986 it was closed. After the sale to Stadsherstel, it was restored and since 2009 this former bathhouse has been the home of Museum Amsterdam Noord.

The changing exhibitions show recent innovations as well as developments in the past and various aspects of history, inhabitants and culture.
