Interesting, creative concept stores and other hotspots pop up like mushrooms. Time to get off the beaten track and discover hip new stores! What better way to end your day than a visit to one of Haarlem’s many museums or theatres.

  • Trains to Haarlem depart every 15 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station.
  • On exiting the station, continue straight ahead and slightly to the right. After a five-minute walk you’ll find your destination on the right-hand side.

  • Walk straight ahead for a short distance until you reach the HEMA. Turn right and at the end of the street turn left. At the end of this street on the left-hand side you’ll see By Lima.

    Organic, home-made food. Refined sugars and E numbers aren’t welcome.

  • With your back to By Lima, continue to the right, and then take a left turn at the crossing. Turn right after the City Council building and then immediately left. Home Stock is directly ahead of you.
  • Turn right into Drossetraat and left at Pathé. You’ll see Jopenkerk, the former church, in front of you.

  • Retrace your steps a short distance following the water and at the bridge turn right into the alley. At the end of the alley turn left, and then immediately right. Turn left again when you reach MEENT. Continue straight ahead until you reach the museum on your right-hand side.

  • With your back to the museum, turn right. At the end of the street turn right again and continue straight ahead until you reach the Stadsschouwburg.
  • Stadsschouwburg Haarlem

    Haarlem’s pride and joy, the Stadsschouwburg, is the most beautiful classic auditorium in the Netherlands.

  • Bus 50 at the Stadsschouwburg stop returns to Haarlem Central Station.
