Innovate and grow your business in Almere
As of 21 April 2021, the Amsterdam Area is even richer in opportunities for young, starting entrepreneurs and students. That’s the date when the Smart Innovation Hub opened its doors at the Newday Offices Almere, offering a place for startups to come together, mix and work together. Why is that important? Well, there have always been innovative businesses in Almere, but when they work independently, it can be tougher to make the essential financial and technological breakthroughs that allow them to scale up.
That’s where Manuela Krull-Mancinelli comes in. In spring 2019, she recognised that there were many startups and public and private initiatives getting going in Almere, but no simple means for them to collaborate and grow together. Backed by the Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, she set out to discover just how much of an appetite there was for innovation in the city. That led to one tech meetup, then another, and another, each tackling different topics, such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, robotics, and even the basics of how to launch a startup. With a clear audience established, Krull-Mancinelli found support from the City of Almere and Horizon Flevoland – the province’s regional development organisation – to establish an on-site innovation hub.
