Impact Entrepreneurship in Education: How Do We Teach Young People to Make a Difference?

Updated 8 October 2025 at 06:51
On Monday, 24 November, Amsterdam Impact is organising the Impact Entrepreneurship in Education conference in partnership with Leren voor Morgen, the Goldschmeding Foundation, De Nederlandsche Bank, and Starters. Tackling social challenges requires entrepreneurial thinkers and doers. How do we equip young people with the skills to make a positive impact on society?

The conference is part of the 'Economics Education Week', during which education professionals explore together how they can future-proof their lessons, making room for new economic frameworks and current social developments.

Skills for the Future

How do we equip young people today with the knowledge and skills they'll need for tomorrow's challenges? Think, for example, about entrepreneurship that takes people and the planet into account. About creativity to solve complex problems. And about the ability to make connections across different disciplines and sectors.

"Impact entrepreneurship deserves a place in tomorrow's education. With this conference, we want to contribute to a strong foundation where young people learn that entrepreneurship can also be about broad-based prosperity and social value, rather than just making loads of money."

- Quincy Dahl, Amsterdam Impact

Connecting with Practice

The conference offers teachers concrete tools: inspiration, resources, and practical examples to strengthen their teaching. This way, they can better prepare students for what's to come.

"During the conference, educational initiatives that prepare young people for the future will be discussed. For example, there's IDEEC, which teaches children to contribute to social issues through creative solutions, Master Challenge has students work in teams on real business challenges, and Futureproof helps students develop skills such as sustainable thinking, collaboration, and innovation."

Beyond the classroom, though, real-world connections matter too. Impact entrepreneurs, you can help bring these lessons to life by sharing your story in the classroom, collaborating on assignments, or offering internship opportunities. That's how young people truly experience what impact entrepreneurship means.
