Friday Night Skate Amsterdam
The ride is accompanied by music every Friday throughout the year, except when it rains or the streets are too slippery. Every week, there is a different route in and around Amsterdam, in places where cars are only allowed to go. The average distance is 20 kilometres. If it is dry on Friday evening, the signal turns green, participants on skates, inline skates and roller skates gather at the Vondelpark entrance Roemer Visscherstraat, and the FNS departs at 20:30 for a tour of approximately 2 hours through and around Amsterdam.
Friday Night Skate Amsterdam
The best start to your weekend!
Every Friday evening, provided the road surface is dry, the group starts from the Vondelpark to skate through the city for 2 hours. The concept is simple: Participation is free, registration is unnecessary, and being able to skate and brake is necessary. Check the website if you want to know if it will go ahead.
Where to meet
In the Vondelpark, at the Roemer Visscherstraat entrance. From 20:15, departure is at 20:30, and you will return around 22:45.
How it started
Brought over from San Francisco and Paris, the FNS started in 1997. The concept has remained unchanged for 26 years. During the week, the FNS volunteers plan and explore a route, arrange a tour leader, provide guides and music, and distribute information about the route for the coming Friday via the FNS website and social media.
