The A10, Amsterdam's highway ring, where thousands of cars pass every day, where thousands of Amsterdammers cross the city. On their way to work, to school, and back home. For one day only, it is the place where Amsterdammers come together to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the city. To have fun, to meet old friends and new faces, to experience exciting adventures and make new memories. For one day only, nobody cares whether you live 'Inside the Ring' or 'Outside the Ring'. We will all be 'Op de Ring'.

During Festival Op de Ring, there are some 25 different programme elements, spread over 3 zones on and around the A10 motorway. Zone A10 West, A10 South and A10 East. You can read all the practical information, accessibility and more here.

Background

The idea for a grand and freely accessible celebration Op de Ring came about 10 years ago among a group of a hundred Amsterdams, united under the name 'Amsterdam on the way to 750 years'. The preparations are now fully underway. The municipality works together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Rijkswaterstaat, safety and transportation partners and with organisations in the creative, sports and cultural sectors.

Programme Op de Ring

On Saturday 21 June, 15 kilometers of car-free highway will be site of many activities related to music, sports, theater, dance, and much more. People will get married Op de Ring, and the whole festival will be kicked off by a Op de Ring Run.

Do Not Take the Car!

On Saturday 21 June, during the day and the evening, the inner ring will be the site of grand festivities. To make this possible, most of the Ring A10 will be closed for the weekend of 21 and 22 June. To prevent major congestion, bridges and streets in the city will also be closed for car traffic.

Especially Social Op de Ring

Festival Op de Ring lowers barriers, so that everyone can take part. Dance with a sign language interpreter on a vibrating dance floor, or relax to nature sounds in a low-stimulation zone. The festival is accessible for anyone. If you want a good party, you need to celebrate together.
