Pearl Charles
Pearl Charles' songs are about late-night excesses, love affairs, escaping and running away, while she sings the sunrise in swirling stories about her birthplace Los Angeles; the city, the canyon, the desert and the road. The American singer-songwriter will perform in the Melkweg. NB The end time mentioned is an indication.

About Pearl Charles
At 18, Charles formed the duo The Driftwood Singers with Christian Lee Hutson, singing, playing guitar and autoharp. At 22, she joined the garage rock band The Blank Tapes as a drummer. Her eponymous solo debut EP followed in 2015 and the critically acclaimed album 'Magic Mirror' in 2021. Her musical journey has been a chronological progression: from old-timey music to '60s garage and psychedelic influences, and now to a hybrid of '70s disco country and '80s-inspired yacht rock. Drawn to catchy melodies and choruses, Charles draws on each era to her advantage, while continuing to refine her unique style as a musician, singer and songwriter.
Pearl's new album 'Desert Queen' will be released on vinyl in Europe on May 30, 2025 and will be released digitally later this year.
