World premieres
This concert is all about being alone. The world premiere of 'Swarm in me' by British Julia Simpson, based on a specially written Frisian poem by Tsead Bruinja entitled 'Krimperich', will be performed. The second premiere is by Hungarian composer Sara Ivan and is called 'Encounter' about a sudden encounter and break with loneliness. The third premiere (Jorrit Tamminga) concerns a technological vision of loneliness through live electronics and AI. How real is our virtual doppelganger and when does the difference between real and virtual fade away?
Using electronics and psychoacoustic principles (psychoacoustics is the study of sound perception and audiology, or how we humans perceive sounds) Jorrit Tamminga and Erik Bosgraaf create endless mirror images of a reality that may never have existed. Tamminga's electronics are fed by the pure sound of the recorder, which electronically processed sounds like a kind of shadow of the acoustic sound. This creates an interesting tension between real and 'just real'!
