Kasteel Museum Sypesteyn

After a 500 year lineage, Henri van Sypesteyn (1857-1937) was the final living testament the van Sypesteyn family; he built Castle-Museum Sypesteyn in Loosdrecht to preserve this heritage, and ensure that generations to come could benefit from his family’s wealth and learn from its history.

Castle in the Amsterdam Area

Once the castle-museum was completed in 1927, Henri transferred his family’s portraits and other memorable items such as weapons, furniture, and all other valuables from The Hague, all of which are now on display in the museum. There is always been something to do on the castle grounds, whether it is a visit to the museum inside, enjoying refreshments on the terrace or strolling through the manicured gardens. Further, it is an ideal place to purchase authentic Loosdrecht porcelain, and to taste the wine that is made on the castle land.
