Buytenplaets Suydersee is the place to be for those looking for peace and lots of space in a natural environment. You can camp here, but sleeping spaces are exceptionally creative: spend the night in a safari tent, a gipsy wagon, a sewer pipe, a sea container or up high between the treetops in a tree house.

De Zeiltoren

'Zeiltoren' is the name of this experimental price-winning architecture in De Realiteit, Almere.

The three-storey De Zeiltoren is one of the 17 experimental houses in the De Realiteit neighbourhood in Almere. Located near Flevoland’s nature reserves, staying here is a real treat. The Noorderplassen, with its swimming beaches and BoatHouse restaurant, are within walking distance. On the other side are the Lepelaarplassen and its bird breeding colonies.

The hotel also serves as a Noordoostpolder Tourist Information Point, where the staff will be happy to supply you with information about the area and activities, including several walking and cycling routes. They also offer bicycle and e-bike rentals.

Falling somewhere between a water lodge and a cosy hotel, Hajé Hotel Restaurant de Aalscholver is connected to surrounding nature reserves by foot and bicycle paths and is, therefore, a great starting point to explore the New Land region. The lodge contains four spacious rooms, two offering unique views of the beautiful lake and forest scenery. Guests can lay their heads in the elegantly furnished interiors, falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the water outside. Meanwhile, the on-site pavilion restaurant boasts an atmospheric veranda.

Bed & Breakfast Life Contains Beautiful Things is a labour of love by a couple who met at a hospitality school. Their dream to open a vineyard with its own accommodation in a unique location on the Almere Oosterwold polder was realised in 2015. Each atmospheric lodge offers a roofed terrace overlooking the vines, surrounding forests and a swimming pond. This location makes the B&B suitable for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Natuurcamping de Kemphaan

Adventurous families should look no further than the Natuurcamping de Kemphaan Camp Site, which offers various activities and direct access to the green wilderness of New Land. The park offers the possibility to pitch our own tents, caravans, campers and trailers and provides warm showers, chemical toilets and electricity. On the premises, visitors will also find the AAP Foundation - a unique animal shelter for apes and other exotic mammals. Fun Forest Almere is just five minutes away - a climbing paradise decked out with various ropeways and climbing courses, which is the biggest in the Netherlands.

Leonardo Hotel Lelystad

Located on the Agoraplein in central Lelystad, Leonardo Hotel offers unbeatable access to many shops and restaurants. The hotel is just a short walk from the station, with convenient direct access to Amsterdam Central Station and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The motorway is only five minutes drive away, and parking is available opposite the hotel.

Seintoren

The Seintoren dates from 1958 and was initially located in Wijk bij Duurstede. It was used to warn ships on the rivers Neder-Rijn and Lek of crossing shipping traffic. Due to improvements in navigation systems, the tower became redundant, moved to Flevoland and is now a bed & breakfast. The space may be small, but the views over the Gooimeer are breathtaking.
