Piano announces new flagship office in Amsterdam

Piano Software, whose platform provides tools and analytics to understand and influence customer behaviour, is set to relocate its global headquarters to Amsterdam. The move follows years of investment in the city: since 2018, Amsterdam has been considered the commercial hub for Piano’s European operations. The company will open its new flagship office in the city later this summer.

A global business settling in Amsterdam

A rapidly growing global company, Piano employs more than 650 staff across 15 offices worldwide, including in Amsterdam, Paris, Singapore, Berlin, Buenos Aires, New York and Tokyo. The company has grown by more than 240% in the last two years and has been included on the Inc. 5000 and Deloitte Technology Fast 500 lists each year.

Over the years, the company has taken over businesses based in France, Germany, Norway and Slovakia, including the recent acquisitions of AT Internet and CeleraOne in 2021 and of SocialFlow in 2022.

Committing to European data privacy in a thriving tech hub

The company’s move to Amsterdam reflects a renewed and reinforced commitment at Piano to stronger European values surrounding data privacy and protection, in line with the GDPR and other boundaries set locally worldwide. This follows the development of Piano’s core digital analytic tool in France, intentionally developed according to the most stringent data protection rules.

“In the midst of a ‘big tech’ reckoning, I’m very proud that Piano has remained true to our values around making great software for good purpose. Europe is leading the way in data privacy, and with the majority of our operations being in Europe anyway, we felt it was time to make our commitment to Europe and to data protections clear,” says Trevor Kaufman, Piano’s CEO. “Amsterdam has been a strong European commercial centre for Piano for the last four years, so we’re excited to deepen our investment in the city and continue to grow as part of its exciting tech community.”

Tech innovators in Amsterdam

Besides moving to a European centre in tune with its ambitions regarding data protection, the relocation is set to centre Piano in a thriving hub for tech innovation. Amsterdam’s rich ecosystem of tech pioneers and fast-growing startups benefits from one of the most advanced digital infrastructures in Europe, an English-speaking workforce and highly ranked quality of life.

Piano joins many other tech companies that have chosen Amsterdam to grow their business, as well as numerous pioneering businesses founded in the city, including WeTransfer, Adyen and Picnic.
