My Garden's Boundaries Are the Horizon: Lecture by dash(-)collective

About dash(-)

dash(-) is an ecosystem that emerged in 2023 in Isfahan, Iran to experiment with a self-sufficient economy that uses community resources. Each member of dash(-) is involved in other collectives within the community in Isfahan. By connecting and experimenting with these collectives, dash imagines an economy that integrates art and life by drawing inspiration from local stories and actively participating in the local community. In this process, institution-building, education, and collective care became the core activities of dash(-).

About My Garden's Boundaries Are the Horizon

To See the Inability to See ��� a collective formed in 2019 at de Appels Archief consisting of Arefeh Riahi, Martín La Roche Contreras and Maartje Fliervoet — developed a foldable multidirectional book/object called My Garden's Boundaries Are the Horizon: A Porous Reader to Unguard the Garden . This publication has sculptural and performative qualities, emphasizing the relationship between bodies and books and provoking collectivity in writing, reading and thinking. The book/object has now unfolded into this exhibition — a repertoire of objects, gestures and events that extend its content into space and bodies, such as those of readers, visitors and artworks. This unfolding takes place on a flexible display that also supports a selection of works, weaving the publication, the artworks and the artefacts into an interconnected constellation of physical and spatial experiences.
