Pärt über Bach - Amsterdam Sinfonietta & Simone Lamsma
'Tabula rasa' is one of the first pieces Pärt wrote in the characteristic minimalist, quiet style for which he became so famous. 'The sounds are there to surround the silence', Pärt said of his tintinnabuli style. In the long period that preceded this, Pärt was in a deep crisis. In the search for a new style, he incorporated other musical styles into collages.

Tension and contrasting sounds
In Collage über BACH Pärt interweaves phrases by Bach with his own modernist music, resulting in a piece full of tension and contrasting sounds. Pieces by Bach frame the music of the leader of the new spirituality. Violinists Simone Lamsma and Candida Thompson solo in the works of these two grand masters. Heavenly.
