Lubimov, Melnikov, Pashchenko, Shelepov + Poprugin - Lubimov 80!
This birthday concert for a legendary Russian pianist will be performed in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. The musical interests of the legendary Russian pianist Lubimov are atypical in their breadth: from classical to 'prepared piano', from baroque to the present. With music by Mozart, Schubert, Glinka, Debussy and the contemplative Ukrainian Valentin Silvestrov, this is a typical Lubimov program. This birthday concert also offers the unique opportunity to hear Satie's ballet 'Relâche live, with film.

Legend
'Alexei Lubimov is a legend,' says Alexander Melnikov, himself a highly respected pianist. 'His entire life is nothing but an uncompromising tribute to music, lit by the unquenchable fire that continues to burn within this man.' Lubimov was one of the last students of the legendary pedagogue Heinrich Neuhaus and himself trained Olga Pashchenko, among others. He is turning eighty. Lubimov is now celebrating this milestone on the stage of the Muziekgebouw with his friends Slava Poprugin, Alexander Melnikov, Viacheslav Shelepov and Olga Pashchenko.
