Gerrit Rietveld Academie
The Gerrit Rietveld Academie is a renowned academy for art and design, located in Amsterdam. The school’s ambition is to support budding artists and designers while leaving them enough space to develop into independent creative minds. Graduates should be able to hold their own in the art and design industries, further develop their craft independently and eventually grow into ‘artistic inspirators’ in their fields.
Bachelors and masters
The academy offers bachelor and master programmes. The first year of the bachelor in art and design is a general orientation year, the basisjaar (‘basic year’), after which students specialise in one of several fields for the remaining four years. The master programme can be followed at the Sandberg Institute, which is part of the academy.
