Destination Earth (DestinE) is an initiative of the European Commission, implemented by ESA, ECMWF and EUMETSAT. It develops digital twins of the Earth to improve our understanding of extreme weather and climate change, assess their impacts and support policy decisions. Satellite observations, including Copernicus data, together with other measurements and advanced weather and climate models, provide a key foundation for this work.
NLSA promotes the use of satellite data to address societal challenges and represents the Netherlands in the DestinE Coordination Group (DCG). This event connects DestinE’s European capabilities with Dutch users and their practical needs: from water management and flood risks to urban heat, agriculture and energy.
We bring together policymakers, public organisations, research institutions and businesses to:
- Discover what DestinE has to offer;
- Discuss Dutch user needs and practical challenges;
- Explore promising applications and identify concrete next steps.
