Tuttiblazers
Tutti wind instruments from the Concertgebouw Orchestra emerge from the shadows and highlight the versatility of the wind ensemble in this Close-up Concert. They continually create new soundscapes. Reicha's elegant Trio for two horns and bassoon is followed by Beethoven's Quintet , in which three horns, oboe, and bassoon alternately support and challenge one another. Berio's playful Opus Number Zoo concludes the first half. A virtuoso bassoon solo is the prelude to Dvořák's famous "American" quartet in an arrangement by David Walter.
Close-up
In the Close-up chamber music series, musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra perform their own programs in the Recital Hall. Each one is a unique, one-off concert, performed nowhere else. It's the perfect way to experience the individual qualities of the orchestra's musicians! These intimate concerts are organized by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
