UvA opens HoQ Amsterdam: a co-working space for the quantum sector

Published on 26 May 2026 at 13:08
On 19 May 2026, The University of Amsterdam (UvA) opened HoQ Amsterdam, a new co-working space for companies and organisations active in quantum technology at Amsterdam Science Park. Operated by QDNL Amsterdam, the hub brings together startups, researchers and industry partners, further strengthening Amsterdam’s position as a centre for quantum innovation in Europe.

A shared space for Amsterdam's quantum ecosystem

Located at Amsterdam Science Park - one of Amsterdam’s nine innovation districts, where knowledge institutions, startups and investors work in close proximity - HoQ Amsterdam provides office space, meeting facilities and shared work areas tailored to the needs of the quantum sector. The hub is designed to support both early-stage research and the commercial development of quantum technologies.

The initiative is led by QDNL Amsterdam, whose partners include UvA, Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA). By bringing these organisations together in one location, the hub aims to accelerate knowledge exchange and support the development of new quantum technologies. Its close proximity to researchers and students also gives companies direct access to talent and scientific expertise, helping bridge the gap between research and commercial application.

HoQ Amsterdam is already home to a growing community of companies, including Eoncore, WIQD and several emerging ventures. It also marks an early step toward LabQ, the planned large-scale quantum hub at Amsterdam Science Park, expected to open in 2029. The future facility will offer 13,000 square metres of laboratory space, educational facilities and offices for scientists and companies.

Together, these developments reinforce Amsterdam Science Park’s role as a key innovation district and strengthen Amsterdam’s position within Europe’s emerging quantum ecosystem.
