Shape the City: Circular City in Action

Updated 2 March 2026 at 09:12
Amsterdam is widely recognised as a front runner in the circular economy. With the bold vision to become fully circular by 2050, the city is considered a living lab for circular transitions. The Circular City in Action track of Shape the City enables conferences to actively engage in the circular transition by supporting initiatives that reduce waste, extend the life of materials, and demonstrate how circular principles are applied in practice.

Contribute to the circular transition with your event

Activities within the Circular City in Action track focus on reuse, repair, and responsible consumption. Delegates can contribute to circular initiatives that:

  • Transform reclaimed materials into new, functional products
  • Prevent food waste by turning surplus ingredients into meals
  • Support the repair, reuse, and redistribution of electronic hardware for community use
