TNW Conference lands at NDSM Amsterdam

The Next Web Conference (Jun 19-20) is about to kick off for 2025, and this year we have put together a list of 12 Amsterdam-based and founded startups or scale-ups. Grouped by theme to highlight the city's strengths across health & life sciences, circular economy, smart cities & urban development, textiles & fashion, and food innovation.

Health & life sciences

Lapsi Health - Created an advanced AI‑powered stethoscope “Keikku” that analyses body sounds for early disease detection.

Healthplus.ai - Uses an AI-driven perioperative risk prediction platform, aiming to support over 50 million surgeries annually with tailored complication forecasts .

Aidence (now DeepHealth) - Developed an AI software for lung‑cancer imaging; enhances radiologist efficiency and accuracy in CT scans .

Circular economy

Closing the Loop - Offsets e‑waste by ensuring 1:1 recycling of mobile phones in emerging markets, closing global supply chains.

Droppie - Is a smart Dutch recycling platform that lets users drop off separated waste at app-linked hubs and earn cash rewards per kilo dropped.

Pretty Plastic - Transforms recycled PVC into durable façade tiles for building cladding, tackling plastic waste in construction.

Smart cities and urban development

Monumental - Monumental is a fast-growing Dutch startup developing autonomous, software-driven construction technology, already deploying systems to build façades and canal walls across the Netherlands. 

Roboat - Developed by AMS Institute and Roboat, this fleet of autonomous electric boats shuttles people, cargo and forms floating infrastructure, transforming Amsterdam’s canals into smart transport routes.

Textiles & fashion sustainability

MARTAN - Transforms waste textiles from luxury hotels into vibrant ready‑to‑wear collections, blending art and sustainability.

BYBORRE - Is a textile lab offering sustainable material innovations and custom-production tools.

Food innovation

Source.ag - Develops and uses AI to optimise greenhouse farming for sustainable, precision horticulture.

Farmless - Uses precision fermentation to create carbon-negative microbial proteins and nutrients.
