Women entrepreneurs are leading the way in Amsterdam
TEDxAmsterdamWomen will bring some of the city’s leading female entrepreneurs together for a night of intense competition at the Startup Awards 2019 on 9 December. After two initial rounds, three participants have been chosen to take part in the final event and will share their ideas on stage before a winner is named.
This year’s contenders are:
- Dewi van de Waeter, the woman behind Lekkerineenpotje, a sustainable, plant-based deodorant brand sold throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.
- Michelle Wolters, the creator of Klup, a social media community for people who are over 50, lead an active lifestyle and want to make new friends by participating in different activities.
- Stine Carle, who developed AMMP Technologies, an operations solution for remote management and monitoring of off-grid, mini-grid, and grid-edge systems in emerging markets.
An exciting opportunity in Hong Kong
The winner of the competition will receive a round-trip flight to Hong Kong in business class on Cathay Pacific to attend the Startmeup HK Festival. Organised by InvestHK, the event provides an opportunity to make valuable business contacts and meet potential investors. In addition, the winner will get personal financial coaching from ABN AMRO and a year executive coaching services.
Marian Spier, founder of TEDxAmsterdamWomen, said: “In recent years, the Startup Award has become one of the most important prizes for starting female entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. There are so many great initiatives and with the Startup Award, we want to stimulate entrepreneurship in the Netherlands. We especially want to offer women a chance to turn their dreams and ideas into successful companies."
Pitch your idea at Talent Night
Though applications for the Startup Awards 2019 closed in August, there’s still an opportunity for driven female entrepreneurs wanting to take part. At Talent Night on 8 November, 10 women trying to change the world through sustainability, tech, entertainment, business, design, science, art and music will have three minutes to discuss their concept. A jury will choose one of them to receive bespoke mentorship from the NN Group and deliver their talk on the mainstage at the TEDxAmsterdamWomen conference in December.
