Bringing new opportunities to Amsterdam
Chargebee, a SaaS subscription and recurring billing solutions provider, announced it will open a new European HQ in Amsterdam. The company believes this move will provide it with access to new opportunities for growth and expansion across the continent, resulting in the creation of dozens of roles in the local area.
With the rise of cloud computing, software-as-a-service (SaaS) has become a disruptive trillion-dollar industry. An ever-increasing number of companies – both large and small – are switching over to a subscription-based service since it makes the traditional one-off heavy investment into software obsolete. However, these subscription services do still need to be operationalised – and that’s the very SaaS service that Chargebee offers.
Plug and play
Chargebee’s platform helps subscription-based businesses manage and grow their revenue by automating subscriptions, billing, invoicing, payments and revenue recognition processes. It also provides clients with key reports, metrics and insights into their subscription business. Chargebee integrates with payment gateways including Adyen, Paypal and Stripe; and business applications such as Quickbooks, Salesforce and Xero.
Creating 75 new roles
Chargebee was founded in 2011 in Chennai, India. With a second office in the US, it’s currently used by 1,700 companies in more than 50 countries using more than 120 currencies. The company has attracted major investors, with the most recent being a €15 million Series C financing led by Insight Venture Partners.
With the opening of their headquarters in Amsterdam, the company expects to create 75 positions within marketing, sales and support during the next few years.
The company is already EU-GDPR, PCI-DSS, SOC-I and SOC-II compliant, and hence well-positioned to meet the regulatory needs of European clients. Since the service is also easily adaptable to other regional regulations, Chargebee may also be attractive to clients seeking to scale outside of Europe.
The ideal location
“Europe represents the fastest growing proportion of our business,” says Krish Subramanian, cofounder and CEO. “With its central location and highly-educated, multilingual workforce, Amsterdam is the ideal location to serve and support our European customer base and prospects.”
“We are proud that Chargebee has chosen Amsterdam for its European headquarters”, says Dieter Oude Kotte, Senior Manager Tech, Startups & USA at amsterdam inbusiness. “They will become part of a thriving fintech community internationally recognised by VCs and fast-growing tech companies as a compelling alternative to London. The Netherlands has been working hard to facilitate these companies through friendly migration procedures and by investing heavily in more affordable housing. We want them to feel at home here.”
