If you’ve ever worked in an office, you’ll know that scheduling meetings can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare. Zazu, a spin-out company of the University of Amsterdam, listened to the cries of countless office workers, and decided to make their lives a little bit easier, with a AI personal assistant.
The assistant, affectionately named Emma or Ben, lets users instantly schedule meetings by simply adding an email address (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com) in the cc field – no pesky applications or plug-ins needed. Just like a human personal assistant, Emma takes care of those annoying e-mail back-and-forths and sets the date, time and location for you.
See Emma in action for yourself, as Zazu will be at AI Expo’s Startup Stand.
This high-flying startup utilises innovative AI tech to automatically analyse video footage from inside aeroplane engines. Engine inspections are typically done manually by humans, and tired and distracted workers make mistakes. This is where Aiir Innovations' cutting-edge intelligent assistant comes in: handling the tasks that are prone to human error.
The Aiir team, with its ties to the University of Amsterdam and the Delft University of Technology, lets human experts to concentrate on their strengths, decreases the time and costs needed for a top-notch inspection and allows for more-frequent check-ups. Needless to say, the company is a great addition to Amsterdam’s tech and aerospace industries.

We’ve all been there: you’ve had a terrible commute, but you’ve still made it to work just in time; however, you’ve forgotten your key, fob or office pass, so you’re locked out – and you're now officially late. If only there were a way to unlock doors using your mobile phone. Well, thanks to Amsterdam-based startup Porter, there is.
With its smart keyless system, Porter effectively transforms smartphones into a digital keyring. The tech supports several types of access control systems (including Bluetooth), and it is already being used in some hotels, offices, gyms and parking garages.
