New research and diagnostics centre ADORE opens in Amsterdam
Bridging cancer and brain research to accelerate breakthrough treatments
With the official opening of its new Research & Diagnostics Centre (RDC), ADORE (Amsterdam Oncology and Neuroscience Research) is a new addition to the Amsterdam Life Sciences & Health ecosystem.
This initiative, led by Amsterdam UMC, brings together experts in oncology and neuroscience under one roof, aiming to fast-track the development of smarter, more personalised treatments for patients facing cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Why is ADORE so important?

At its heart, ADORE is about breaking down traditional disease silos and creating interdisciplinary collaboration where it’s most needed. Cancer and brain diseases like Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis (MS) may seem worlds apart, but both involve disrupted communication between cells and interactions with the immune system.
ADORE's researchers are working side by side to uncover shared biological mechanisms and use that insight to devise new, targeted therapies.
A hub for collaborative impact
ADORE is one of the largest combined oncology and neuroscience research hubs in the world, with over 2,000 researchers based on campus. It plays a key role in the Amsterdam Life Sciences & Health ecosystem, connecting academic research with diagnostics, clinical care, and industry. Its purpose-built facilities encourage daily collaboration, helping to translate scientific discoveries into new treatments.
For Amsterdam’s growing health innovation community, ADORE’s presence strengthens the city’s position as a hub for integrated medical research. Its work aligns with key priorities in the region: developing affordable, accessible healthcare solutions, supporting public-private collaborations, and tackling complex health challenges with cross-disciplinary expertise.
