Finnish startup WP SEO AI is expanding in Amsterdam

Finnish startup WP SEO AI is expanding in Amsterdam

WP SEO AI, a Finnish startup specialising in AI search engine optimisation, has been progressively expanding from Finland to Amsterdam, less than a year after entering the Dutch market. The move underlines the startup’s ambition to scale its AI-backed SEO tools and its rapid growth through Europe since establishing a presence in the Netherlands.

From startup roots in Finland to new chapters in the Netherlands

Founded in Finland in 2023, WP SEO AI develops artificial intelligence software that helps businesses create and improve their website content for better performance in search engines and LLMs across the entire workflow, from search-behaviour data to content creation to continuous optimisation. WP SEO AI combines AI automation with human oversight, delivering time-saving efficiency while maintaining strategic alignment and quality.

Since establishing a presence in Amsterdam in May 2024, the company has grown to 60 colleagues in the Netherlands, already exceeding its home base in Finland. 

Building on this, WP SEO AI is expected to ramp up to a multi-national organisation covering numerous and diverse commercial roles, such as customer success, business support, and leadership. At this rate, the expectation is to settle around 200 colleagues in 2026. There is (also) close collaboration with the local [Amsterdam] government, educational institutions, and other parties to ensure we truly are able to give back to a community that has welcomed us so warmly.

Why choose Amsterdam for business?

The company’s expansion follows a trend of tech startups migrating to the Dutch capital for its strong digital infrastructure, international talent pool and top-ranking living standards. Recent arrivals include the American database company MotherDuck, which established its Amsterdam presence earlier in 2024. 

According to the co-founder and CRO, Miikka Arala, who is also currently leading the company’s international expansion from the Dutch office, the Amsterdam Area offers highly skilled digital talent, a strong tech landscape, and a high quality of life. 

It's an ideal test market due to it being English speaking, easily accessible, and aligns well with the Finnish culture due to being logical and direct. It is also a great place to move fast, test things fast, due to the diverse angles and cultures.

WP SEO AI now occupies an entire office floor in Amsterdam, with plans to expand further as demands for AI tools grow. Their move adds to the Amsterdam region’s status as a hub for international tech companies, offering a combination of skilled talent and a supportive business culture to enable emerging enterprises like WP SEO AI to scale successfully.
