At Kindertaalcafé, visitors enjoy a children’s book reading carousel featuring stories in multiple languages. The café hosts creative workshops for children, while parents and carers relax with coffee, tea, and croissants. Between 12:00 and 13:00, guests are invited to share a cosy lunch buffet. The event is free to attend.
Easter Edition
For the Easter edition, the event embraces the themes of spring and nature. Families can decorate Easter eggs and listen to spring-themed stories read by volunteer teachers and parents in Dutch, Greek, Italian, and Turkish. Those wishing to share a tale in another language are encouraged to bring their own book and join in the readings.
The Kindertaalcafé offers more than just play, reading, and exploration; it provides a space for families to connect with Amsterdam’s rich multicultural community.
Programme:
10:00 – Doors open
10:30 – Reading carousel begins
12:00 – Lunch served
Families are welcome to attend anytime between 10:00 and 13:00, staying for as long as they wish. The event’s flexible format allows guests to arrive, leave, and return as it suits them. While Taalhuis Amsterdam teachers will be on hand, the Kindertaalcafé warmly invites parents and carers to contribute their own ideas and activities.
