Sustainability
Eye aims to further improve the sustainability of its buildings, activities and operations. We did this by starting the Environmental Policy Plan in 2021. This plan was created by our Green Team and completed in early 2022. Since 2017, Eye has a BREAAM-NL In Use certificate for the museum building with a score of ‘very good’. It is a certification method for making existing utility buildings more sustainable. In addition, Eye participated in the working group for sustainable museums, led by Royal Haskoning (RHDHV). This working group examined what measures are possible to meet the legally required CO2 savings.
Through the thematic series ‘Cinema Ecologica’, Eye addressed the climate crisis in their film programming. Sustainability is also part of Eye’s educational programmes. Furthermore, Eye is trying to reduce its footprint by replacing many printed articles, newsletters, brochures, flyers, and catalogs by digital versions. Eye also selects local suppliers, where possible, to keep transportation to a minimum.
