girli
Alt-pop artist girli describes her upcoming album 'Matriarchy' as her most vulnerable and reflective yet. The title came naturally, because the singer-songwriter mainly wants to show that she is in a phase in which she is taking the reins into her own hands; in love, as a queer woman and as an artist.

Form of therapy
Debut 'Girls Get Angry Too' was written out of anger, but nowadays writing music for Milly Toomy, aka girli, is a form of therapy. This can also be heard on Matriarchy. Although many influences of bubblegum and punk pop can still be heard, there is more room for vulnerability in the music and lyrics, which are often about love, feminism, sexuality, queer culture and mental health.
