The estate
Beeckestijn is a beautiful historic country estate, which was founded in the 18th century on the edge of the dunes in Kennemerland as a summer residence for Amsterdam regents. Beeckestijn House has been furnished as a 'Museum House' by Hendrick de Keyser since June 2019. In the rooms you can experience what it was like to live in the house around 1717.
The house is open: Thursday from 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM and Friday to Sunday from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
The gardens
The geometric landscaped gardens surround the Beeckestijn house, originally dating from the 17th century. A romantic landscape garden was subsequently created in the 18th century. Together, they form one of the most important historic gardens in the country because only here can two historically significant style forms be seen side by side; a strict geometric section according to the French Baroque followed by a playful, more natural English landscape park.
The gardens and park are freely accessible every day.
