Restaurants and bars in New Land

With its two modern cities filled with art and culture, there’s no shortage of bars and restaurants in New Land. Take your pick from the cosiest cafes, harbour eateries and luxurious restaurants, in the cities or hidden away in nature.

Let the exquisite sea views and landscapes of Almere guide you to a dining experience inspired by nature. Restaurant Bakboord prides itself on freshly caught seafood and greens from its organic vegetable garden. The harbourside restaurant has long been considered one of the best in Flevoland, and in 2015 received the Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award for exceptional food at moderate prices.

Almere’s latest hotspot on the Grote Markt, Boutiq is the place for all-day brunches, small plates at dinner and expert-made cocktails. It’s an aesthetic spot too, complete with extravagant geometric-patterned walls and hanging flower pieces, grand chandeliers and crushed velvet chairs that make for an essential snap for your Instagram.

Rosita’s

For Mexican food in Almere, Rosita’s is the go-to spot. After numerous trips to Mexico and gaining years of experience with top chefs, hostess Sonja and chef Ton opened their restaurant in July 2015. Since then, they’ve tried to capture the spirit of the Land of Mariachi, with a menu filled with traditional dishes from empanadas to molé and plenty of mezcal and cocktails. The decor helps, too, with a washed yellow stone interior, tiled floors and a colourful terrace all helping bring a little bit of Mexico City to Flevoland.

Brasserij De Bergerrie

For a simple but hearty lunch or dinner, go to Brasserij De Bergerrie, a cosy eatery with all the classics on the menu. Lunch here is a real treat, with eggs in every style and an array of sandwiches and gourmet burgers to choose from. The evening selection showcases a range of crowd-pleasing and hearty dishes, including steaks, stews and salmon.

Restaurant De Klink 2.0

Located at an idyllic waterside location between the forests and the Veluwemeer Lake, it's even possible to arrive at Restaurant De Klink 2.0 by boat. The terrace offers sweeping views of the rippling water and the opportunity to dine in the fresh air. You’ll find fresh dishes made with regional produce on the varied menu. Or you can pop by for a hot tea or a cold beer from the tap after a long walk or a bike ride in the area.

Bierfabriek

They say it's better to do a few things well, and Bierfabriek (literally meaning 'beer factory') certainly fits that bill. The microbrewery serves just three home-brewed varieties (Puur, Rosso and Nero) and a small but exceptional food selection, with 24-hour marinated BBQ chicken being the speciality. Beers are served either at the bar or can be self-poured at one of the pub's tap tables. Especially great for groups!

Applaus

Restaurant Applaus is a modern restaurant located in the Agora Theater - known for its eye-popping architecture. Stop here for a perfect cup of cappuccino on the sunny terrace, drinks with finger food or end your day in Lelystad with the 5-course surprise dinner. The predominantly Mediterranean dishes are prepared from scratch and with fresh ingredients.

De Gordiaan

Pure food and romantic dining, that’s De Gordiaan Kitchen Bar,. As one of the oldest restaurants in the centre of Lelystad (which of course, seeing New Land is only 40 years old, makes it still a youngster), De Gordiaan serves fresh and honest food made with organic products from the region. Because all ingredients are purchased daily, you will not find fixed menus in this cosy restaurant. Instead, choose from the current list of dishes and create your own 3, 4 or 5-course menu.

Hajé Hotel Restaurant de Aalscholver

Falling somewhere between a water lodge and a cosy hotel, Hajé Hotel's pavilion restaurant is the ideal spot to take in views of the lake, forest and surrounding nature reserve. Take a seat on the atmospheric veranda as you tuck into a varied menu of fresh seasonal dishes focusing on organic and local produce. You can start your day with a superfood breakfast, take a luxurious ciabatta for lunch or enjoy a hearty evening meal and bites for dinner.

Grand Café Aan ut Water

The sprawling terrace of Grand Café Aan ut Water is perfect for larger groups, boasting 120 seats and spectacular views over the IJsselmeer. Situated directly on the harbour of the Flevo Marina, diners can soak up the nautical scenery as they tuck into a tasty lunch, dinner, high tea or simply afternoon beers. Grand Café Aan ut Water prides itself on its impeccable service and friendly atmosphere. They also offer summer barbecues on the terrace.
