Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ: a unique location on the waterfront The Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ is the newest concert hall in the Netherlands and is one of the most modern auditoriums in the world. Also much used for conferences, presentations and lectures

The Muziekgebouw has two auditoriums; a large, multifunctional chamber music hall, seating 720, and a smaller hall seating 100. The three foyer decks, in use during concert intervals, are large balconies in the immense glass façade and provide a spectacular view over the IJ. The combination of auditoriums and foyer decks has already made the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ a much-used location for conferences, presentations and lectures.

Easy to reach

The Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ can be reached from the Central Station in three minutes with tram 25 or 26 (tram stop right in front of the building), or in a ten minute walk. The building can be reached by car within five minutes from the East Ring Road A10, via the Piet Heintunnel. There is a large parking garage, for 550 cars, directly under the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

Main and small auditorium

The Main auditorium in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ is equipped with state of the art concert and theatre technology. The acoustics are formidable, due mainly to the special acoustic ceiling that can be fully adjusted in height. Each section of the floor can be moved individually and the whole floor can be brought to stage level. All seats can be removed from the Main Auditorium in 45 minutes. There is a choice of various auditorium set-ups, such as a completely levelled floor measuring 20 by 30 metres suitable for giving dinner- or other parties. This also provides the possibility to combine a concert, conference, film or lecture in the concert set-up, followed by a party or sit-down dinner.

The Small (BAM) auditorium is a concert hall seating a maximum of 100. The sliding glass wall enables the auditorium to be joined with the adjacent foyer deck situated at the topmost point of the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. This foyer deck has a wonderful view over the IJ and the old heart of the city.
