Huis Willet-Holthuysen

Visit Huis Willet-Holthuysen and experience what it was like to live in a canal house on the Herengracht in Amsterdam.

From home to museum

In 1895, this imposing 17th-century canal house, including furnishings and art collection, was bequeathed to the city of Amsterdam by Mrs. Willet-Holthuysen. The ballroom, dining room, drawing rooms and garden room show how the wealthy Willet couple lived. The kitchen and utility room in the basement give an interesting insight into the daily life of the staff.

The house has a beautiful city garden. This green oasis in the heart of Amsterdam is laid out in 18th-century French style and decorated with historic trees and plant species.

World Heritage

Museum Willet-Holthuysen is located on Amsterdam's Herengracht. The Amsterdam canal belt is officially part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
