Untangling Trauma - Mara van Nes / Frascati Producties i.s.m. ARQ

Performances and talks

In a world that seems to be hardening and in which global crises are increasing, researchers are calling for more understanding of trauma and collective resilience, also outside the consulting room. This evening, programme maker Mara van Nes and Jetske van Heemstra (GZ psychologist at ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre) will investigate trauma in the context of theatre. Can this cross-pollination between art and science help to better investigate trauma? And to tell stories in new ways about the diversity of causes and manifestations?

At Frascati Productions, Mara and Jetske paired theatre makers Tea Tupaji��, Merel Severs, Basak Layic and Jelle Huizinga with experts from ARQ. They bundle their knowledge and creativity to explore themes around trauma in new ways and give them shape.

On Tuesday 3 December, the findings will be bundled in Frascati into one evening full of performances and talks about different manifestations of trauma, trauma treatment and (collective) resilience.

ARQ is the expertise center in the field of psychotrauma. Several departments work here on prevention, treatment and knowledge sharing. Within the program line ' The (un)told City ', Frascati Productions has been working with ARQ since 2017.

About Mara van Nes

Mara van Nes (1993) is a theatre maker, programme maker and moderator, specialised in making social-artistic work. In this, she approaches the conduct of the conversation as the artistic product. In her practice, Mara often works with both professional artists and amateurs, or interdisciplinary with specialists from the social domain. In Mara's work, encounter, experience and dialogue are central. An important role is reserved for rituals, based on the idea that the design of gatherings has a direct influence on their content.
