'The Underground' is inspired by 'Notes from the Underground' by Fyodor Dostoyevsky; a monologue by a man who has had to take many blows in his life. "Rik van den Bos wrote a phenomenal, topical text within this theme, about someone who cannot accept how the world works, who cannot participate in the rules of the game and withdraws with all his spiritual wealth in the margins," said Guy Weizman, director.

'The Underground' is an absurdist, funny and tragic performance directed by Guy Weizman and was previously selected by the professional jury for the prestigious Dutch Theater Festival, with a starring role for Sanne den Hartogh as the cabaret-like band leader who flawlessly combines social criticism and personal suffering with dark humour. Den Hartogh received a Louis d'Or nomination for this.
