The Amsterdam Storytelling Festival: The Grand Opening

Festival directors Raphael Rodan and Sahand Sahebdivani bring together some great artists in Podium Mozaïek, with whom they create a variety show, in which different theatrical disciplines are addressed, but of course storytelling is central. During this exciting opening night, the artists not only question the theme of Courage, they also set the tone for the entire festival to come.

Raphael Rodan

Raphael Rodan (1980) is an award-winning theatre maker and storyteller. He graduated from the School of Speech and Drama in Harduf, his native Israel, in 2008. He continued his acting training at Actors Temple in London. He worked in Israel as a theatre director for young Arab and Jewish actors, using theatre as a bridge for communication. Since moving to Europe, he has taught storytelling workshops and performed across the continent.

Sahand Sahebdivani

Sahand Sahebdivani (1980) is the most famous storyteller in the Netherlands. In 2004 he founded the Mezrab, which grew into one of the most important storytelling stages in the world. Sahand came to the Netherlands as a refugee from the Iran-Iraq war at the age of three. His experiences, as well as those of his family, form the basis of most of his work.
