Rising from the dead

Sasha, a colonel in the Ukrainian army who died of cardiac arrest, sees his widow Katia and his stepdaughter Oksana preparing his funeral party.

A year later, the country is engulfed by events that could raise the dead. Sasha is ready to be resurrected, but his family is not. They don't want to bury him again.

The magical play Take the Rubbish Out, Sasha was written by Kyiv-based playwright Natal'ya Vorozhbit in 2014 when the Russian army annexed the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine. Within a year, the Russian army also occupied Crimea in southern Ukraine.
